The Satellite Jail could have been kept open - Instead, these board members voted on 9/26 to buy $1.5 million dollars worth of land from developers for Perryville. (Jail could borrow road money for 1 year)·
Over 6 Years of road funds would be used up if the Perryville Extension were built to Wisconsin. We are facing 10 years of listed road improvements throughout the county without building Perryville.·
Will existing roads be left to deteriorate and become unsafe if we build the most expensive road project in county history? - Perryville Road.·
There still are alternatives to Cohn’s proposal! (See map on reverse side)
Question:
Why have board members listed above put building a Perryville Extension ahead of your safety and a long list of existing road improvement needs?Question:
Were promises for campaign funds from a developer made? (At least one prominent board member who voted no to buy land was offered money the day before the 9/26 vote)Question:
Is your board member listening to the people he or she is charged to represent? - Overwhelming majorities of people do not want this road built. Source: ‘Record of Citizens Questions and Comments’, 900 + attendees at Public Meeting Winnebago County - Perryville Road Proposal, January 29, 2001. (This is a 14-page report - only one person supported Perryville)- Who is really benefiting? -
Could it be that special interests are better represented than you?
You can make a difference - Don’t forget to Vote on November 5th
