It appears once again that the County Board Chair, Kris Cohn, and the developers have ulterior motives about this extension they would like to keep quiet. WHY?
Engineering Map drawings, dated 1986 & 1987, document that it would be more cost effective to hook up with existing roads. Why were these studies ignored?
Our Position On This Extension ProposalFACTS
If they use Kris Cohn's Proposal, we will have a Hazardous 2 Cargo Road Through a Residential Area.
The alternative road, Meridian, is already a Hazardous Road and not in the middle of a residential area.
This project would waste taxpayers money
There are many projects which need attention now! How are the roads in your neighborhood?
The County turned down the offer to finish Pierpont from Preston to Cunningham for only the cost of material. If the County does not take steps to upgrade or improve existing roads, do we really want to build even more roads to take care of?
Examples of work that would have to be done to make this property suitable for building a road on:
> 150 vertical feet of fill the length and width of the road would be required to traverse the Ditzler property.
> Straighten out the winding Fork Kent Creek
> Fill in wetlands.
> Water management would have to be employed to stave off flooding.
| A Veteran will have property forcibly removed from his possession. Quick Take is being used against he and his family. He paid the price for serving our country by losing his vision. Now the County wants to take his land too. |
Who benefits besides Land Speculators, Road Builder & Developers?
Who pays for this project? YOU DO -- **All taxpayers of Winnebago County have already had to endure a 5.5% Tax Increase levied by the County.
** On the other hand, the Sheriffs department & River Bluff Nursing Home were told to cut 2.63% from their budgets last year.
